Man of Words: M S Dhoni visits & felicitates winners in 34th National Games
  • Cricket sensation and team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni visited the Mega Sports Complex on Sunday evening
  • In spite of his busy World Cup schedule, Dhoni had promised to try and if possible visit the State capital during the games
  • Dhoni fulfilled his promise when he arrived amidst roars of a berserk crowd at the Birsa Munda Athletic Stadium around 5:30 pm
  • Dhoni was the one who gave away medals to the winners in the 400 m Hurdles (men)
  • In this event the Gold medal was won by Kuldev Singh of Punjab whereas Joseph G. Abraham (Kerala) and Satendra Singh (Punjab) won the silver and bronze respectively

34th NG :  Well Begun....
  • The governor of Jharkhand His excellency, Sri MOH Farook formally inaugurated the 34th National Games in Mega Sport Complex, Ranchi.

  • The 34th National Games commenced in a grand manner with Aerobics Shows, Sparkling Lights, Fire Works, Tri-Colour Balloons followed by performance of Bollywood Stars.

  • A delighted Jharkhand CM, Sri Arjun Munda addressed the full capacity crowds in the Birsa Munda Athletic Stadium which is the main stadium.

  • The confidence level and vision of the Jharkhand CM could be summed up when he said :

    Chodo kal ki battein kal ki baat purani Naye daur par likhenge milkar nayi kahani”     

     

  • The large gathering was earlier addressed by the JOA President Mr. R.K.Anand, the IOA President  Sri Suresh Kalmadi and also the Deputy CM Mr. Sudesh Kumar Mahto who is also the minister of sports in the state of Jharkhand.

 

34th NG inaugurated amidst Pomp & Show
  • The Chhau, Paika, Mundari, kurukh and other dancers of Jharkhand stole the lime light in the opening ceremony of the 34th National Games at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium, MSC. People were mesmerized by the dance performances like the war dance- ‘Paika’ by Shiv Shankar Mahli and his ‘Sur Shringar’ troupe. The crowd was spell bound by the ‘Dumkach’ dance presented by the famous Mukund Nayak and his group.

  • Performance by the Mascot ‘Chhaua’ in hit numbers like ‘Desh Rangila’, ‘Rang de Basanti’ and ‘Vande Matram’ in  the company of Boogie-Woogie  runner up Soumya and Junior Jackson Viren Raj Baraik, hypnotized the crowd at the opening ceremony at Ranchi.

  • An impressive laser show was presented at the opening ceremony of the 34th National Games which highlighted the achievements of hockey sensations Jaipal Singh Munda and  Sylvanus Dungdung, Arjuna and Dronacharya Awardee ace archer Sanjeev Kumar Singh, team India hockey women’s captain Sumarai Tete and of course MS Dhoni.

Bollywood: In Jharkhand for 34th National Games Opening

  • Sukhwinder Singh in a flashy sleeveless attire gave an impressive performance in the opening ceremony. He had the crowd on his finger tips with numbers like ‘Chhaiya- Chhaiya’, ‘Dhan-te-nan’, ‘Chak de’ and  ‘Jai ho’.

  • Sameera Reddy, Amisha Patel, and Vivek Oberoi performed in the opening ceremony. While Sameera performed on the remix version of ‘Duniya mein logon ko’ and ‘Ishq se mitha’, Amisha Patel danced to the ‘Dhanno’ item number from the movie ‘Houseful’. Vivek Oberoi entered the arena in a Kawasaki bike and gave an impressive performance on ‘All the Best'.
